I Get Carried Away…

So Passion Pit rolled into town and I was lucky enough to get a chance to see them. They were originally supposed to be a part of the salt lake summer twilight concert series but had to drop out for some reason. This time they came to the complex and they brought Matt & Kim with them!

We’d also heard Icona Pop was making an appearance, but sadly they were no where to be seen.

Matt & Kim were up first and they know how to get things going. Kim stood on her drum kit to announce everything and anything. At one point they even had the people up front squish together and she danced on top of the crowd. Matt for the most part stayed behind his keyboard but was still very entertaining. There were lots of stories (along with some words I won’t repeat haha), crowd interaction (sing along! I’m going to throw my shoe to you! haha), and even a Harlem shake. It was a fun way to get things started.

Then Passion Pit came on. They were less chatty, but Michael Angelakos looked so cute in his tie and jacket and they really put on a fun show. We also got so much closer to the stage once Passion Pit came on.We just let ourselves get caught up in the momentum and before we knew it we’d jumped our way pretty close to the front.

Ok, so my terrible camera doesn’t really do justice to it, but I promise we actually had a good view.

Bubbles!

During I Take A Walk they released bubbles everywhere.

By the end of it I may have been out of control thirsty (Which a ridiculous line at Sonic did nothing to cure! I actually ended getting so mad I deserted the line and ended up at the closest smiths instead, haha) and more than a little overheated(let’s not dwell on what my hair looked like by the end of the night), but very glad I came. Good music + Good people = Good night.

Currently: Rereading the first Hunger Games book

Playlist Prep

Whether it’s a band I’ve been really excited to see or just a random show I got invited to, I’ve made an unofficial tradition of sorts to create a “get psyched” playlist before I go to the concert or show. This is especially good if you have friends going that don’t know the band as well as you do… or if you’re that friend. Cause let’s be honest, it’s better if you know some words so you can obnoxiously sing along, right? ;)

So, without further ado, here is my get psyched playlist for the Passion Pit show coming up in March (Does this make me a hipster ;) ? ). Icona Pop and Matt & Kim will also be making an appearance. It should be a good time. I’m not sure how I feel about Gossamer yet, but I also haven’t had a chance to give it a good listen ( I figured they’ll play a lot from it, so I tried to incorporate most of the songs). This will probably be my car music for a little while.

Currently: Enjoying one of my favorite quick dinner fixes: A wrap filled with spinach, craisins, a sprinkling of mozzarella cheese, and bacon bits — with Brianna’s poppy seed dressing mixed in. Yum.

Good things come in threes…or sometimes twos…or sevens…or…

I am lucky to have good things come to me often. These are some good things lately:

Trio. I tried to eat here one night a few months ago and after we’d sat down, had our drinks, and given our orders, the power went out. So, no trio for us. But thank goodness I finally went back, cause it was delish. If you go I think you should get the rosemary flatbread. It has goat cheese, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, and tomatoes. It’s pretty wonderful.

Dry Cucumber Soda. I had this at Trio (see the afore mentioned other good thing). I got it just for kicks because I’d never heard of cucumber soda, but I ended up loving it. However I was worried. The waiter said they imported these drinks from somewhere in Seattle and they were only here for the season. How would I ever find this drink again? Surely I would have to search for endless hours on the internet to find their obscure origin.

Or it would be the first hit on Google. And you can easily order them online. Guess I’m behind on the times.

dry cucumber soda. Mine did not come garnished with cucumbers and artfully placed on highly reflective surfaces, but was delicious nonetheless.

Movie time. Recent watches include The Impossible and Ruby Sparks. The Impossible made me cry (which I don’t really do in movies). Ruby Sparks made me want to visit the Big Sur, take more chances, be my true self, and write, write, write.

New recipes. Part of my new years resolutions was to cook more and I’ve found some good recipes; my favorite so far was probably the Moroccan Chicken and Lentils. I’ve also been pleasantly surprise to find that a few nights of cooking goes a long, long way.

Unhinged. This is place is great. You should probably go there. It’s tucked away in Sugarhouse (1121 east 2100 south SLC, UT) and is full of wonderful things. Like clothes, and jewlery, and art, and great local designers. I got this:

Nifty, right? It also came with a case, flash, the original manual, and one final picture that the previous owner never removed.

Best Week Ever! It’s back! Can’t wait. Now, I just have to figure out where I can watch it since I don’t have VH1.

BWE! So many great times with this show!

Currently: Happy after a night of pancakes and dancing it out despite having to reschedule and cancel plans. I guess even large amounts of snow can be a good thing. Oh, also got to spend a lot of time catching up with family via telephone, which is always good :)
